Fishing Derby 2009

Dean and I had a little outing without Zach on Saturday. We went to the local fishing derby. We had a nice time although the fishing wasn't to great. I caught 4 little perch and Dean baiting his hooks for northerns came home empty handed. Some of the nephews caught a few and Austin took a placing in the kids division for his northern.

Sky High and Frozen Solid

After all this snow and cold temps that we have had, the piles of snow are sky high and the ice is very thick. On Sunday we went out ice fishing and the auger just barely made it through the ice. We didn't have the extension along so if it was any deeper we would have been out of luck. (We didn't catch anything anyway.) Then on our way back we stopped to see Amber. She was busy playing on a nice mountain of snow. It made a good sliding hill, that's for sure!

Fishing Derby 2008

This afternoon was the local Annual Fishing Derby. We usually go although we usually don't catch much. This year I caught a little perch (which are about the only perch in the lake), and Dean caught one Northern. With 45 minutes left in the tournament he was in second place with the Northern weighing a little over 3 lbs. But by the end he was bumped out to under 3rd place - so no prize winnings! Tonight they have a supper and more drawings to win things like an ice auger etc. Hoping for better luck this evening! If not, Oh well at least we get in some fishing and supper out of the deal!

We caught some Waleye, White Bass and Northern.

Gone Fishing

| View Show | Create Your Own
On March 8, we headed out for a little vacation. We went to Lake of the Woods to fish. We fished 2 days at Arnesens Rocky Point. Lots of fun and lots of fish! Our group of 9: Dean & Sara, Renae, Dale, Barb & Greg, and nephews Brandon, Andrew and Taylor. The biggest excitement for some was catching a "Ling" which are huge and slimy!
