Goodbye Tec

We have now said goodbye to our first tractor that we lovingly called Tec. It won't be far away as Dean's Uncle will be using it to clean out the church parking lots etc. But yet it is sad to see it go as it has some fun memories. We now have a new tractor in need of a name and some new fun times and work.

Hay & Harvest

It's that oh so busy time of year for the farmers! Haying and Harvest both came at the same time this year.
We finally got our hay put up and in the barn the end of August. It is so nice to have all that extra grass cut out and cleaned up. And a comfort to have plenty of hay for the winter.
Since then Dean has been helping his family out some with the haying since they are also trying to harvest their crops.
My family is busy with these things as well. Zach has gotten to enjoy some harvest fun with Ross and Gramps, not to mention the best part...Lunches!

Old Time Tractors

This Saturday morning we made a fun trip up to the Hawk Museum to see all the tractors and antique farm machinery. Zach had a blast trying out every tractor he could. It was a beautiful day! We were thankful for it, as most years it's either raining or too muddy from the rain.
Dean thinking he is ready to drive the big ones.

We tried out lots of tractors!

Threshing.

Z's stay at the Grins.

Oh boy Zach gets to stay over at the Grin farm again. For 2 whole nights!

Truthfully, I am so thankful for family to be able to take care of Zach, as I have been having more troubles with the miscarriage issue and ended up in surgery and hospital last night. Now am home and trying to rest and recover. I am OK and hoping this is the last big saga on my road to recovery.

Grammy just sent me pics of what they have been up to, so I am getting a little "Zach picture fun" therapy in.
It looks like they are putting him to WORK!

CLEANING HOUSE for GRAMMY

FEEDING THE COWS for PAPA
DRIVING the TRACTOR for ROSS
I see they know how to share the work load around there. :) All jokes aside, I am pretty certain they are taking some time out to PLAY!

Thanks to all 3 of you for taking care of our little or maybe not so little boy!

Tractors, Family and Fun

Labor Day Weekend we took a little trip to the Stump Lake Threshing Bee. We met up with Grammy, Papa and Uncle Ross. Zach had a BLAST! He loved the tractors, the parade, the CANDY, BALLOONS, and rides.

From Green to Orange

We like Green tractors and Orange pumpkins!
Saturday...Zach celebrated his birthday a bit early when he found his birthday gift (the Green tractor pictured above) hidden in Mom & Dad's closet. Oops! There was no way we were getting out of giving it to him right away.
The last post I showed a pic of that pumpkin I made for Zach. Here is the updated version with it all orange. Cool huh?

Baby Love

Zach's latest interest is caring for his babies and animals. We have spent the last week or so putting diapers on the baby and kitty as well as wrapping them in blankets, rocking and putting them to "night night". Just this past weekend we added 2 new babies and a little blue bear to our family and they have been getting tons of attention. They have made it to church, grandma's house, wagon rides to the garden, the swing and this morning he had his arms full with them ready to go to Linda's. His other main interest is tractors...along with finding some new tractors at rummage sales (which are also a major hit), Z got to ride with Dean when he baled our hay.
We were excited to get our extra grass cut and baled - we got 10.5 bales! More than enough for 2 horses to make it through the winter.

Meagan & Me

10/27/07 While Dean and Daryl unloaded sunflowers, Meagan and I had lots of fun making things out of play-dough. Some of our creations included a pig, spaghetti, cookies, hay bales & more!

Harvest Complete

On Labor day afternoon we went over to Daryl's a bit to help him unload the last few loads of grain. It is nice for them to be finished and I gather that my dad will soon be finishing up with his last field too. Dean had a little fun making Nipsa's smiley face for the camera!

Harvest Time 2007

My Papa - in the combine. "Nothing runs like a Deere."
It's Harvest time and that means both of our families are busy. Dean has been going out to his folks some to help with harvest and baling. Sunday, Dean and I went out and made some straw bales.

The cab was a little more crowded than I remember from my childhood days of riding with Dad. Dean and I both fit, but it was a little snuggly!

NBC's Today Show: America the Beautiful: Amber Waves of Grain shows the beauty of the area we live in, #6 of the 10 most awe inspiring locations in our nation.

Dad and Me

Monday morning I went down and spent some time with Dad. We mainly worked on fixing the combine tires and visiting. Nice to have a little time to hang out with my papa.

Snickers came along too, but she was mostly interested in a nap.

Princess Parlor

We went out to the Ski farm on Saturday night, and had a little fun with the calves. We call them "princesses".

Dean and I bottle fed the new ones and after they get older they drink from the pail. They sure are fun. If you don't have food at hand, they will gladly try to eat at your fingers, pants or anything they can get ahold of. Even another calf's ear.
I really thought this little brown princess was cute. So small and delicate compared to the others.

Note: I've found one fun thing about dairy cattle - there are always cute little baby calves around!

Favorite Things: Smell of Hay

This is one of Dean's favorite things. See him smiff it!
Last night we went out to the farm to check out the fresh bales! Then Dean got the other baler hooked up, jumped in the JD and made some bales!

Dean and Darren enjoying the beautiful evening and checking the hay. They loved it, just like the good ol' days.
I snuck off and did one of my favorite things: horseback riding!
