Auntie Bonnie's Award Winning Books

So I have to give a award winning shout out to Auntie Bonnie and her book selection. Zach's first favorite book (given by Bonnie) was "Blue Hat, Green Hat" - Red Hat, Oops! by Sandra Boynton. Every Oops! the turkey puts the clothing article on incorrectly. We have read this over and over as most kids love to do.
Now Bonnie picked another prize-winner and hopefully a great learning opportunity..."Potty" by Leslie Patricelli. No more "Blue Hat Green Hat" around here! Plus we have gone "potty" twice today! I don't think I'll get my hopes up to high though. Just go with it when the interest strikes.
Honorable Mention goes to Wanda and family - our nightly line up always includes "My Happy Pumpkin" and "My Thanksgiving Prayer". Which a bit more low key than the 1st prize books but Oh so sweet.

May Daze

Well it seems May has passed and it has already been about a month since I posted anything.
We've been busy! I took lots of pics of our fun. So here it is...
Early May we helped cut down trees at Grandma B's house and Zach got his first tractor ride with Daddy. We also had some fun playing with cousins there and Auntie Nae had some baby Canada Geese to play with.
Zach really loves Grandma's chickens. Even though the mean black rooster started a fight with him once, he seems to have forgotten already.
We spent lots of time preparing our garden spot and finally got the majority of it planted on the 16th. Things are starting to grow pretty good now and have been working on weeds.
We discovered that a fox had her den in our pasture near the garden. Dean thought he counted 6 babies which seems to be a lot. We were able to watch them play, pretty cute.
We also had a nice grill-out with the A. family - Zach and Tressa had a blast with the trikes and Luke was content to have Zach give him a few wagon rides. :)
Other projects around here... Keeping up with the lawn is a project in itself!
In the past week Dean has been setting traps for the moles in our tree rows - he has had quite a bit of success and Zach knows where each trap is and watches closely that we don't miss checking one. He has also learn all about shooting a gun - as he tells Daddy to "Bootz 'em".

Happy Easter 2010

What a wonderful Easter weekend! Christ is Risen! Alleluia! It really lifts one's spirits to sing out those hymns of Easter. Praise be to God, for the promise of Everlasting Life!
We had a beautiful weekend - enjoyed the outdoors and fun with family.
Holy Saturday was a "therapy" day for me. I got some horse therapy, which does me wonders. Chester and Sassy both got their pedicures and styles (aka hoof trim and bridle paths trimmed) and we all went for a horseback/4wlr ride around the block and through some fun mud!
We also got a few little odds and ends of outdoor projects completed and the house cleaned. That always feels good!
Easter Sunday we traveled to Grammy and Gramps house for some Easter family fun.
Zach was fortunate that the Easter bunny stopped by Grammy's too and left him some goodies there as well.
My aunt Ivy and uncle Tom came to visit - what a joy to have them as we do not see them very often. Tom was the chef and made some excellent prime rib! We were stuffed!
Our egg tradition of K-nooking (which Tom introduced us to years ago) was again a smash hit. This year Deano took the title for best egg.
We headed for home with one tired little boy - probably hungry too - no time to eat with all the excitement!
God has truly blessed us.

Summer Grins 2009

July 17-19 - the Grin family all got together. It had been since Christmas so we were all glad to get to see each other again! Zach also got to meet his Great Grandma and Great Aunt Ivy for the first time. We had lots of fun just hanging out, playing HORSE, Baseball, shooting 22, bonfires etc.
It makes me so sad to have to wave good bye to my brothers, wish they were closer so we could see them more often.

Child of God

To add to the weekend we also had baptism. What a wonderful and special day. Zach's other birthday - as he was born into God's family. What a great blessing from above.
Grammy Grin made his beautiful baptismal gown, we were glad we didn't have to wait any longer for baptism as he may have outgrown the gown! He's a very healthy little guy, growing by the minute!

Showering Zach

Saturday some of my friends put on a baby shower for Zach. We had a nice time.
We really got a kick out of the Diaper Doo Doo game where you guess the kind of chocolate bar melted in a diaper. We also played Name the Animals- Mom and baby - for example a Mother Alligator is called a cow and a baby is a hatchling. Did you know that? :) I didn't although Auntie Nae and I scored the highest on that game! Guess that animal background comes in handy sometimes.
Zach was busy charming all the ladies.

Coffee with Good Company

Last night our church ladies held a little get together, "Celebrating Autumn". The program included our ladies choir in which we sang "For the Beauty of the Earth", "There is a Season" (Eccl. 3:1-8,11) and on the lighter side "Java Jive". The blessings we have in fellowship shared with other women friends and family over coffee (and dessert too), is something to be treasured. Thankfully I was able to share the evening with many local friends and also the company of my Mom and my aunt Bonnie.

Number 31

What a wonderful number! I had a wonderful day of celebrating my birthday. Mom, Dad and Bonnie all came up for supper. Later Daryl, Susan and girls came over too. Hopes were to have a bonfire but it started to rain later so our bonfire was cut short. Had a great time anyway.
