I know some of you have been wondering about our Monarch butterfly project for this year. Last night we started collecting some caterpillars we got about 30 or so. A little less than last year's count of ~80. But what we have create plenty of work and fun. They can really eat and poop. Supposedly they double in size daily! If you listen to them eating they are so loud they sound like a crackling bowl of rice crispies! Oh, I guess Dean thinks we should continue to keep on the lookout for more, according to him "You can't have to many!"If you are interested in doing this project yourself all you have to do is start looking for milkweed in the ditches, pastures etc. In ND we have common milkweed click to see a picture of the plant.
